Inspite of the recent tragedies in Paris; this city is still at its heart, the same. I have so many memories going back almost 20 years and an appreciation for the city gifted to me by my parents who loved Paris with all its foibles and imperfections. When you hear an Edith Piaf song, it conjures up the visions of the years when Paris was under seige. That is a memory for the grandfathers and grandmothers. More recently, a lone pianist played John Lennon’s song “Imagine” in a square filled with people. In the time it took to play the intro, a new anthem was born for the next generation. There is no sentimental song that does not move the Parisians, as music is the glue that holds everyone together. Parisians come from every walk of life and background; the spirit of the present and future generations of Paris will again be marked by a new tragic history; but Paris will go on.
Its not perfection, but a work in progress. For me, I will look for the joy, the unique character of the past, present and the future. Join me as I share on my adventures in Paris.
